You have probably heard about getting a certain amount of steps, but how many steps daily are needed. Two years ago, I did a Wellness presentation for a leadership group within Maricopa County.
I looked at a number of research studies, and while there are benefits up above 10000 steps per day, there appeared to be diminishing returns in terms of all cause mortality above about 8000 steps. At that time I set my fitness tracker goal for 7500 steps/day. Since the beginning of 2024, I have been training using the Morpheus system (more about that later) which uses a 7000 step threshold.

Following that is a headline from Lancet Public Health just published online July 23, 2025 which outlines the most recent meta review done which seems to outline the case for 7000 steps. This doesnt mean one cannot do more, but if you are busy like most of us, it seems to be the sweet spot balancing effort, and time for health gains
